How Many Meters Are in 1 kg of PLA?

Scenario

A maker wants to compare a new spool with a length-based estimate.

Inputs and assumptions

Mass 1000 g; diameter 1.75 mm; density 1.24 g/cm³.

Calculation steps

  1. Area = π × 0.875² = 2.4053 mm².
  2. Length = 1000 ÷ (2.4053 × 1.24).

Result

335.28 m, approximately.

Limits

Actual diameter and density vary; this is theoretical solid filament length.
