Planning guide

How to Plan Filament for Multiple Projects

How can several pending jobs share stock without promising the same grams twice?

Work through the process

  1. Add each project and its per-item material requirements.
  2. Allocate a compatible spool to each requirement, including color.
  3. Review gaps before purchasing, and release reservations for cancelled work.

Formula and worked illustration

If a 500 g spool has 320 g reserved, only 180 g is free. A second 220 g request can receive 180 g and retain a 40 g gap.

Inputs and limits

Reservations are planning commitments. Only measured completion reduces physical stock. Editing a project releases its old commitments for review.

Browser records are origin-specific and may be evicted. See MDN’s storage documentation for background on retention limits.

Use the Multi-Project Filament Planner to change the assumptions and compare your own inputs. Examples here are illustrative calculations, not results from a physical print test.
